CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) — это признанный во всем мире сертификат, подтверждающий квалификацию преподавателя английского языка для взрослых.

CELTA открывает огромные перспективы для карьерного роста преподавателя, как в России, так и за рубежом. Данный сертификат является общепризнанным стандартом во многих языковых школах по всему миру.

Курс CELTA был разработан Кембриджским Университетом в 1970 г. Появление курса связано с ростом ожиданий, предъявляемых к качеству преподавания английского языка. Данная тенденция была обусловлена происходящей глобализацией и ростом международного взаимодействия во всех сферах жизнедеятельности.

Отличия курса CELTA от других курсов

Суть и ключевое отличие курса CELTA от других курсов подготовки преподавателей — практическая направленность на организацию эффективного учебного процесса. Преподаватели изучают не только методические аспекты преподавания, но и участвуют в практических занятиях, на которых они овладевают такими полезными навыками, как например управление классом или использование вспомогательных материалов (учебников, аудио-, видеоматериалов).
CELTA — это в большей степени тренинг, нежели экзамен. Оценка усвоения материала ведется ежедневно на протяжении всего обучения, при этом в завершении каждый преподаватель получает сертификат об окончании курса с соответствующей оценкой: Pass (сдано), Pass B (хорошо) или Pass A (отлично). 

Предназначение курса

Данный курс рекомендован для следующих категорий слушателей:

• для преподавателей английского языка, желающих повысить свою квалификацию и приобрести навыки преподавания, требуемые в современных условиях,
• для тех, кто не имел прежде педагогической практики (например, переводчики),
• для тех, кто желает переквалифицироваться на преподавание английского языка.

Методика преподавания CELTA основана на двух базовых принципах:

• акцент на коммуникативной подготовке. Преподаватели получают навыки эффективного обучения студентов свободному общению на английском языке, при этом обеспечивая корректное использование лексики и грамматики.
• общение только на английском языке, то есть при обучении не используется родной язык ученика.

Общая продолжительность курса составляет 120 академических часов (4 недели по 7-8 часов с понедельника по пятницу). 

Курс CELTA состоит из нескольких компонентов:

1. Теоретические занятия:
1. Грамматические структуры языка
2. Лексика, произношение и устная речь
3. Анализ ошибок и методы коррекции
4. Современные методики обучения
5. Взаимоотношения преподавателя и ученика
6. Подготовка и планирование урока
7. Управление классом
8. Использование методических пособий и наглядных материалов
2. Преподавательская практика. Все учащиеся проходят обязательную 6-часовую преподавательскую практику со студентами-добровольцами. Обучение ведется как минимум в двух группах (уровни Elementary и Upper-Intermidiate). После каждой преподавательской практики происходит ее анализ и оценка, каждому слушателю предоставляется персональный письменный анализ проделанной им работы.
   
   
3. Консультации с тьютором. Всем слушателям предоставляется возможность присутствовать на практических занятиях, проводимых учащимися. По окончании занятий вместе с опытным тьютором проводится детальный анализ сильных и слабых сторон каждого преподавателя. Кроме групповых практических занятий, в течение курса проводится несколько индивидуальных консультаций с тьютором.
   
   
4. Письменные работы. В течение всего срока обучения учащиеся должны выполнить 4 письменных работы, каждая из которых имеет конкретный срок сдачи.

• Возраст от 18 лет.
• Среднее (полное) общее образование.
• Знание английского языка на уровне не ниже C1 Advanced. Сертификат, подтверждающий уровень владение языком, предоставлять не обязательно.
• Успешное прохождение отборочных испытаний.

Отборочные испытания включают в себя 2 этапа:

Этап 1: Заполнение pre-course task (анкеты)

Выполняя это задание, вы рассказываете о своем предыдущем опыте, образовании, пройденных курсах повышения квалификации, имеющихся сертификатах, мотивации, а также отвечаете на вопросы о структуре и грамматике английского языка, которые и продемонстрируют ваш уровень.

Этап 2: Скайп собеседование с тьютором

Во время собеседования, которое проходит на английском языке, тьютор расскажет вам о структуре курса, его интенсивности и требованиях, чтобы вы имели четкое представление о том, что вас ждет. Также тьютор выслушает вашу мотивацию и поставленные цели, развеет сомнения и недопонимания, ответит на вопросы.

This is not just a course, it is a training. In some places, it is very tough, one might say, with surgical intervention, but interesting and very useful. This is a test of endurance, stress resistance and professionalism. This is an amazing course! In Russia there are only 5 certified centers where you can go through it. We have wonderful teachers here in Ekaterinburg, they conduct CELTA in other cities and countries. So if you want a challenge and Cambridge certificate, then welcome.

The course is very practical and intensive. During the course we were provided with materials, assistance and support. Natasha and Anna are the best tutors! Every input session is a mixture of theory and practice. I could learn how this or that procedure/framework/game/technique might be implemented in the lesson. My experience was positive and extremely beneficial in terms of the knowledge I got and my further career opportunities. Our tutors were strict but helpful and highly qualified, the location and facilities were really good. The only problem was the lack of the Internet connection both in the university and in my accomodation (it was the only but significant drawback).
